Extra Curricula Activities

Students at Burpengary State School have the opportunity to participate in a diverse range of cultural, sporting and leadership activities focused on the development of the ‘whole child’. Activities that compliment students’ academic learning assist in building the skills of responsibility, commitment, persistence and team work which are all highly valued.

Cultural activities include

  • Biennial Arts Festival
  • Instrumental music programs
  • Junior and Senior Concert Bands
  • Junior and Senior Strings Ensembles
  • Junior and Senior Choirs
  • Fanfare
  • MusicFest
  • Arts Council events
  • School Study Tour to Japan
  • Hosting visiting Japanese Study Tours

Sporting activities include

  • Sport Gala Days (Years 5 and 6)
  • P-3 Sports Day
  • Active After School Program
  • District, Regional, State and Australian Sporting trials and competitions
  • School Cross-Country carnival
  • School Track and Field Carnival
  • Brisbane Roar football program
  • Auskick football program

Leadership activities include

  • Student Leadership positions (School and Vice Captains, House Captains, Strings, Choir and Band Captains),
  • School Council representatives (Years 5-6)
  • Student Leadership Conference.

Co-Curricular activities include:

  • Public Speaking Competition
  • Language other than English (LOTE) Public Speaking Competition
  • ICAS Tests
  • Brisbane Writers Festival
  • St Helena Island
  • Year 6 Camp
