Burpengary State School has a well-appointed, air conditioned library facility open for students and parents to access.
Parents are encouraged to borrow from the parent library, with titles such as Raising Boys, The Secret of Happy Children, Tricky Kids, Getting on with Others and many more.
Borrowing
Students are able to borrow from a large collection of Fiction and Non- Fiction books. They also have classroom access to resources that teachers regularly borrow to support their Curriculum Programmes.
Each class is allocated a borrowing session each week. Book loans have a two week time limit and overdue notices are issued weekly. Generally, Junior School students borrow one book whilst Senior School students borrow two books.
Junior School students can earn the privilege of borrowing two books through various reward systems in place. Other competitions and borrowing incentives are run throughout the year in both libraries.
All students must have a waterproof library bag purchased via the School Office or Uniform Shop.
The Library is open to Junior School students at first break and Senior School students at second break, for borrowing and other activities. It is also opened every day for borrowing before school from 8.30 am.
Events
In the past our students and staff have welcomed the opportunity to participate in events such as Book Week, The Premier's Reading Challenge and National Simultaneous Storytime.
We invite you to visit our Library and look forward to assisting you with any enquiries.
