Year 6 camp

The camp is held every year at Tallebudgera Outdoor Education School in Term 1. It provides opportunities for students to experience learning in an environment other than the school or their homes. Camping experiences may enable students to develop outdoor recreation skills and interests.  Camps also support the school’s curriculum by enabling investigation of aspects of society that would not be possible within the school.  Camps provide opportunities for students to develop independence and effective interpersonal skills.  Camps allow the school to motivate, reward and celebrate positive student behaviour and effort.

Purpose

At Burpengary State School, camp provides opportunities for students to:

  • extend and expand learning about the curriculum
  • celebrate the importance of an active lifestyle by developing skills and interests in outdoor activities
  • develop attitudes that will promote responsible behaviours in caring for the environment
  • provide learning experiences that will promote:
    • respect
    • co-operation
    • responsibility
    • care and compassion
    • honesty
    • commitment
  • provide problem-solving strategies and responsible attitudes towards personal and group safety
  • encourage students to make decisions and reflect on personal well-being and the well-being of others.
